(Overview)

Big-picture thinking. Hands-on execution.

Some projects need a creative director. Others need a director, producer, cinematographer, editor, motion team, and finishing partner.

I bridge those needs.

I help clients clarify the story, develop the concept, assemble the right production team, and turn one strong idea into a complete family of commercial assets.

Available for direct client engagements, agency partnerships, fractional creative leadership, and ongoing content production.

(About Me)

I'm David J. Dorsey, a creative director and commercial filmmaker based in Nevada City, CA.

For over two decades I've shaped brand films and campaigns for companies like Meta, Vaio, Gateway, and RCA. Now I bring that same senior-level thinking directly to businesses across Northern California.

(FAQ)

01
What do you do?

I lead brand films, campaigns, and content systems from concept through delivery. I either act as your production partner or can embed as a fractional creative. Every project gets the right-sized team for optimal execution rather than a fixed agency structure.

02
How do you work?

I build the team around the project rather than forcing every one through the same process. Some jobs I run solo from concept through final cut. Others need a director, cinematographer, editor, and motion team, and I assemble and lead that group. Either way, you get one senior point of contact from the first conversation to final delivery.

03
How long does a typical project take?

A brand film or campaign usually runs 4–8 weeks from concept to delivery, depending on scope and locations. Ongoing content partnerships and fractional creative direction run continuously, with work delivered on a regular cadence.

04
What should I expect to invest?

Every project is scoped around what it actually needs, so pricing varies with complexity, timeline, and deliverables. Most brand films and campaigns start in the low five-figure range; ongoing content partnerships and fractional creative direction are priced as monthly engagements. I'll always recommend an approach that fits your goals and budget, not the other way around.

Whatever the assignment calls for, one camera or a full crew, you get the same senior-level thinking from first frame to final cut.
